I know how you have to live inside yourself, isolate yourself because emotionally and mentally you have no equals here. How, more often than not, you have to compromise your thinking just to be understood. How you long for someone with the capacity to meet you where you live. On your level. (credit: Lawrence Hertzog)

Martyr for the Faith

"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached."

~14th-century Byzantine emperor, Manuel II Paleologos~

I think I found my new favorite quote.

Ardent members of the "religion of Peace" responsed to this "slander" by gunning down a nun who worked in a children's hospital (Read the story, here); so humane and holy of them. Muslim clerics are also calling for the execution of the Holy Father. While the world is blaming the Pope Benedict XVI for stirring the current Muslim ire against the Catholic Church (because Heaven knows, we've always gotten along so well before!), I am reminded of another man whose remarks incited people to seek his death, and the death of his followers.

I've also heard other Muslim clerics express their regret over the "ignorance" and "misunderstanding" that would cause a man as learned as Pope Benedict XVI to repeat such a quote. I have yet to hear these same clerics express their regret over the "ignorance" and "misunderstanding" that causes the Muslim "extremists" (that would be anyone who actually practices their religion) to seek the death of "non-believers;" (that would be the Holy Father, Religious Sisters and Brothers, People who work in the World Trade Center, etc.).

I do have to admit that I wish we were more like the Muslims in one thing, fervency for the Faith. Why, when Islamists are killing Catholics, blaspheming the Holy name of Jesus, and desecrating the symbols of our Faith, is the Pope apologizing? Jesus didn't.

Like when Salmon Rushdie had a price on his head for blasphemy. The Muslims do have cool ideas like that.

Too bad they're devil-worshipers.

It's called a Fatwah.

All we have is Anathema and we haven't used it since VII.

Bring 'em back I say!
